ARTS CENTER IS ENROLLING NOW FOR FALL CLASSES

September 8, 2006 (Middletown, CT)-The Green Street Arts Center announced the appointment of Lex Leifheit as the Assistant Director in charge of events and adult programs beginning September 25, 2006.  Leifheit replaces Janis Astor del Valle, who assumed the role of Director in May.

Leifheit noted, "As a North End resident and someone who has been committed to the Green Street Arts Center since the groundbreaking, I have seen the transforming power of the arts in this neighborhood.  Green Street is the embodiment of everything I admire in the arts-diversity, community, inclusivity and, of course, discovery of one's own talents! I am thrilled to be a part of the center in this new role."

In addition to hiring an Assistant Director, Green Street has recently filled two other key staff positions-hiring Jessica Carso as Development and Marketing Director, and Christina D'Alessandro as Financial Coordinator/Registrar.

Lex Leifheit comes to the Green Street Arts Center from her current position as Press and Marketing Coordinator for Wesleyan University's Center for the Arts. She served as Interim Assistant Director at Green Street from November
2005 through February 2006, during which time Green Street saw a 60% enrollment increase in its adult and homeschool classes. She recently completed her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree at Wesleyan and has previously worked with the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, the Garde Arts Center , the Hygienic Art Gallery and Secret Theatre in Connecticut as well as several professional theater companies.

Jessica Carso became Green Street's Director of Development and Marketing on August 14.  She most recently worked at the Wadsworth Atheneum, where she was the Grants Writer for two years, and was responsible for raising $1.6 million. Before that, she was at the Greater Hartford Arts Council.  Carso grew up in Portland and is a resident of Rockfall.

Born and raised in Mexico, Cristina D'Alessandro relocated to California ten years ago, where she held such positions as Accountant, for Telemundo, and Collections/Returns Coordinator, for Esprit de Corp. Most recently, she
served as the Account Executive for Riviera Finance in Santa Clara.  D'Alessandro has fifteen years of experience in accounting and holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Guadalajara. She began working as Green
Streets Financial Coordinator/Registrar on September 5.
