GREEN STREET ARTS CENTER ANNOUNCES SPRING CLASSES FOR ADULTS &
CHILDREN IN MUSIC, DANCE, WRITING, VISUAL AND MEDIA ARTS
Middletown, Conn., January 8, 2007-The Green Street Arts
Center, a project of Wesleyan University in collaboration
with the City of Middletown and the North End Action Team,
is offering more than 30 six and ten-week classes for
adults, teens and children this spring. Classes in
everything from World Jewelry Techniques, Belly Dancing and
African Drumming to Video Storytelling, Acting and Scene
Study and Music Production begin the week of January 29 and
February 5. To allow the general public to sample some of
the spring offerings, the center is holding Green Street
Free Art Day on Saturday, January 20th from noon to 4pm. In
addition, the Center's after school arts program is
admitting children ages 7-8 and 12-18.
In
keeping with Green Street's goal of helping people identify
and realize their creative potential, many of Green Street's
classes have beginner-friendly prices of $100 or less.
Students who register with a friend or family member will
receive 15% off the price of tuition, and students who
register by January 19 receive a free annual membership.
Senior citizens get a 10% discount.
Throughout the spring, Green Street will be offering
workshops in tap dance, cartooning, jewelry making, film
making and home buying. Space is limited and students can
register now by calling 860-685-7871.
Green Street's Friday night series are also growing in
popularity, including Green Speak: Open Mic (first Fridays);
the Green House Music Series (second Fridays) and In the
Limelight (third Fridays).
The schedule for Green Street Free Day on January 20 is as
follows:

1:30 & 2:30pm-Belly Dancing
2:30-4pm-World Arts Family Series: Symbols & Self visual art
workshop with Natasha Miles (advance reservations

for more information. Private music lessons with vocalists,
drummers, pianists, saxophonists, guitarists, and violinists
are open for new students and need-based financial aid is
available.
